Two Nerds, Maybe More

A podcast about video games, maybe more!

Constructing A Podcast Part 1

We have now released the first episode of 'Two Nerds, Maybe More' where we talk about everything gaming, and maybe more. But let's have a quick look at all the things that happened before that. How was this podcast constructed, and maybe more importantly, where are we headed?

One And a Half Week Ago

Mike and I had a virtual meet up on Sunday the 9th were we talked about getting back into the game of podcast. Well, to be honest, we had been talking here and there over the months on WhatsApp about what we wanted to do, IF we returned to podcasting.

As some background it's probably important to know that we used to co-host on the podcast The Blue Recluse, which was a podcast about the games and news from Blizzard Entertainment.

So on this particular Sunday we finally decided to finally just do something. So initially we just decided to try and pretend we were going to record the following Sunday and prepare some show notes.

During the week we compiled a set of show notes and we figured out a couple of possible names for the show. Towards the end of the week we talked and compared notes, and then decided to just record the episode. In worst case scenario we could just decide to not release it, right?

An Intro Song Emerges

During Sunday the 16th I had my sister visiting and we had planned to record some music. She has been working on a cover song and I had recently taken a course in music production. So we decided to try and combine forces and see what would happen.

After a few hours of recording and mixing, we took a break and then decided to just fool around and make up a song on the spot. We created a loop that sounded fun, but we didn't initially think much more of it, besides labelling it let's save it for later.

But we did end up showing it to my girlfriend who said it could potentially work as an intro for the podcast. We ran with the idea instantly and I recorded a quick voice line for it, and we layered it on top and voila. It sounded okay.

But I decided I wanted to try something else out. I wanted us all to say it in unison as a sort of choir, so we did that. Or we tried at least. Nobody was able to start at the same time or someone started laughing. But my sister did something amazing. She said her lines in a monotone voice. We recorded it and loved the weirdness of it. We shipped the intro idea off to Michael, who also loved it.

So like that we had an intro for our yet unrecorded podcast.

To Be Continued

That's it for now. In the next post I'll get into the recording phase, and all the other stuff that happens after that.

I hope you enjoyed this little blog post, we might do more of this kind of content in the future.

And be sure to check out the first episode of our podcast where we chat about Dracula on Netflix, The Race to World First in World of Warcraft, Wolcen: Lord of Mayhem, and maybe more.
